I’m super excited to share that Well Beauty Blog is updated with a new logo, new content, and a new focus!
It all started a few months ago, when I was talking with a friend of mine – and I must add a beautiful, smart, funny girl that any guy would be lucky to have. But in talking with her, I found she was very self-conscious and constantly found flaws in herself. Her hair, stomach, skin – it didn’t seem to matter. Here was this beautiful, intelligent, kind, hilarious, successful woman and she didn’t see it. It got me thinking about our society and how it demands perfection. We must have a flat stomach, clear skin, perfect hair. Our clothes and style must be in season – even makeup colors can be ‘outdated’! How can we feel good about ourselves if we are constantly being told how to improve?
And then it it hit – am I part of the problem?
Is my little beauty blog adding to this problem?
I’ll be honest, this thought really weighed on me heavily. I felt sad that I may have contributed, even in some small way, to females in this world not feeling absolutely confident in themselves. This sadness made me not want to write. I have always found beauty products fun, but I’ve never thought of them as necessary to be beautiful. Beauty is on the inside. It is how we treat our self, and others, and our planet. Yet, my blog may not have communicated this.
So I set out to change that. I thought about starting completely new, but decided to keep my old content. I started with a new logo. I have always loved poppies. My bedspread is poppies, a large canvas painting of poppies hangs on my wall. If I were to get a tattoo, it would probably be a poppy. So I brought in my favorite flower into my blog.
I want my blog to be a resource for those who want to start living a healthier lifestyle. Whether that is using healthier ingredients in beauty products, eating healthier, or improving mental health – my goal in life is to help others live happier, healthier lives. To start this process as a being a resource for others, I set up an online shop which includes some of my favorite products in beauty, health, and eco-friendly living. Whether you are just starting to explore the world of eco-beauty, or want to find a great book on stress management, I hope my online shop is helpful.
I also will be focusing my content to be more on health. After all, my bachelor and masters are in nutrition, my PhD is in physical activity, nutrition and wellness – my LIFE is health. And not just nutrition or physical activity, but I believe that mental health is important for physical activity and happiness. Our spiritual health also affects our physical and mental wellbeing. I’m very excited to share more posts and content on health-related subjects.
Does this mean no more posts on beauty? No way! Like I said above, I think beauty products are fun. But I also want to stress that beauty is a fun hobby – and not a path to self esteem or self worth. I also will still include posts on eco-friendly living as living an eco-friendly lifestyle is very important to me.
My new and improved Well Beauty Blog will be focused on 3 beliefs:
What we put on our bodies is just as important as what we put in it.
Our mental and spiritual health are just as important as our physical health.
How we treat our planet affects not only us, but future generations as well.
I hope you will join me on a path to healthier, happier living : )
