I previously tried Red Apple Lipstick’s eye shadows and was really impressed with their pigment and wear. Well, it should come as no surprise that Red Apple Lipstick’s lipsticks have the exact same qualities! I was lucky enough to try three lipsticks, and I took a leap and tried three very different colors. I usually stick to reds and darker pinks (as you can see in this post), but I’m so happy I ventured out because these colors are all gorgeous.
The three I tried, with their official description:
Coral Crush: The epitome of a true coral color. A pinkish-orange color representing the beautiful oceanic coral reef.
Light My Fire: Think “red copper” – it’s that simple. Light My Fire is a lovely red with slightly gold-brown undertones.
Reddish Fetish: A deep berry color is our favorite of the fall season. A true berry color – slightly red, slightly pink.
I agree with these for the most part, here are swatches to see for yourself!
First, Coral Crush. I agree that this is a true coral color. The color in the tube looks very salmon-y, but on my lips it is a beautiful pinky-coral. For some reason my camera only seemed to pick up on the orange-ness of the color, but it does have a nice pink to it like what you see in the swatch above. It is a great color for spring. Here it is on my lips:
Second is Light My Fire. I had never tried a red copper lipstick before so I thought – why not? I am SO glad I did because this is my favorite color of the bunch! It’s a beautiful reddish-purple color, and when the light hits it right, it has a copper sheen. It would be a great color for a warm summer night on the town.
And last, but certainly not least, is Reddish Fetish. This is the only color where I disagree with the description. I wouldn’t really consider this a berry, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a great lipstick. It’s a darker, neutral red tone. It’s not really a brick red color, but it does lean that way. Because it is neutral, I think this could be worn for any occasion or during any season.
And as for the wear, I am SUPER impressed. I put on Light My Fire to wear around the house and a few hours later, and after a few cups of tea, it was STILL on my lips! I couldn’t believe it stayed on so well.
These are all highly pigmented (just like their eye shadows) and very opaque. They may make more sheer colors, but these aren’t it. But while they are opaque, they aren’t drying like some opaque lipsticks can be. My lips felt moisturized with these on and after they wore off. They have a waxy feel to them, similar to a traditional lip balm.
Now for the ingredients!
Helianthus Annus – 100% pure organic cold pressed, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii, Synthetic Beeswax, All Natural Gluten Free – Soy Free – Corn Free Vitamin E Tocopheryl Acetate, May Contain: Titanium Dioxide, Manganese Violet, Mica, Iron Oxide.
These lipsticks have a nice, simple ingredients list. The first is sunflower seed oil, which is a lighter oil but still very moisturizing and it’s organic! Then, is a wax which helps give it its shape and then shea butter which helps keep these moisturizing.
And best of all for you celiacs out there, these are gluten free! No need to worry about accidentally consuming gluten from your lipstick!
Overall, I am super impressed with Red Apple Lipsticks. These colors are super pigmented, long wearing and moisturizing. And on top of that, they contain organic ingredients AND are gluten free! I really look forward to trying other products from this line!
