While I can’t complain about the weather here (especially with all of the polar vortex craziness that just happened in the midwest), my skin has still been super dry. No matter how nice the weather is (and we definitely get spoiled in Arizona this time of year), my skin is very confused it is not 100+ degrees and just doesn’t know what to do with itself. But is there a flakey spot on my face? Nope! I have been using Living Nature’s Radiance Night Oil and LOVE it, it has kept my skin super moisturized this winter. And – I’m giving one away!
Living Nature describes their Radiance Night Oil as, “a precious facial oil blend to boost your skin’s overnight rejuvenation and renewal process. ” Precious it is. I love this little green bottle.
First, the scent. It is a wonderful blend of herbal and floral. I can’t quite put my finger on it, I think I smell some rose and geranium maybe? But I can say it smells lovely and I really enjoy smelling it as I apply it every night.
The texture is on the thinner side of an oil. It is very emollient though and smooths over skin easily. It does sink in quickly too which is very nice. While it does sink in quickly, I think it still leaves a dewy look to my face. I don’t mind this, because I think dewy skin looks healthy and it’s a night oil so who will really see anyway, but I did want to mention in case some ladies (or gents) don’t like the dewy look.
So I mentioned this is very moisturizing and it IS. I’ve been using it for about about a month and my skin has become very soft and very smooth. No flakies or dry spots at all, which is pretty rare for me this time of year. It also hasn’t broken me out which is awesome because that does happen sometimes when I start to use products for dry skin. But this doesn’t at all, which is a huge plus in my book.
This bottle is glass and dark green, which I really like to help keep light from destroying any natural antioxidants. The only downside is the the bottle is small, only 0.3 fl oz. When I find an oil that I love, of course I want more of it!
Now for the ingredients!
Rosa canina (rosehip) fruit oil**, Calendula officinalis (calendula) extract**, Simmondsia chinensis (jojoba) oil**, Boswellia carterii (frankincense) oil, Parfum (fragrance)*, Daucus carota (carrot) extract, Tocopherol (vitamin E), Rosa damascena flower oil.
*From natural essential oils: Citral, Citronellol, Eugenol, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool.
So the first three ingredients are organic, which is always a plus. Rosehip oil actually has two ‘types’ so to speak, the fruit oil and the seed oil. While many times it’s often just called ‘rosehip oil,’ which part of the plant they use is very important. The fruit oil is generally considered the higher quality oil because it has more carotenoids and sterols, which help repair skin. Rosehip has also been shown to help with scarring and hyperpigmentation. I have read that some people with acne suffer worse breakouts with rosehip but then I’ve also heard people say it has helped them break out with less. So it just depends on the person I guess.
I’ve mentioned calendula extract a few times before on the blog, and seeing it as the number two ingredient is pretty awesome! Calendula is well known for its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties, which is great for dry, irritated skin.
Jojoba oil is another one I’ve mentioned quite a bunch, and it is one of my favorite oils (although it’s actually a wax!). It is closest of all oils/waxes to our natural sebum and my skin just eats it up. Jojoba oil is known for softening and moisturizing skin.
I usually don’t like to see the word fragrance, but Living Nature’s is completely natural and made up of essential oils.
So overall, I really love Living Nature’s Radiance Night Oil. It has made my skin super soft and moisturized with no breakouts. It really has been my winter savior.
