Christmas is almost hereeeeee, are you ready? Well I’m loving all the Christmas movies and music, I can’t get enough! And I am in the Christmas spirit because I have another giveaway for you all! And I’m very happy to announce this one is open to my neighbors up north in Canada too! Well, I guess Canada isn’t quite a neighbor to Arizona… but you know what I mean…
Anyhoo, let’s talk about the product! Sante’s Hypnotic Lashes is a lash-enhancement serum. I haven’t tried lash enhancement serums before. I had a friend try Latisse and her lashes got LONG, but the possibility of my eye color changing always freaked me out. So anyhoo, along came Sante with their lash-enhancement serum and the all-natural formula appealed to me.
Well since I am reviewing this, you can probably guess that I really like this product. It actually worked! I wouldn’t say it Latisse-worked as in my lashes got freakishly long, but I swear they are a little longer. And while my lashes aren’t individually thicker (that I can tell), I do think I have more than before. Overall, my lashes just seem thicker and longer.
I took a picture before I started using the serum and tried to take some recently to match, but it turns out that getting two similar pictures of my eyelashes is really hard. Since my lashes naturally curl (they are curly like my hair!) you can’t really see the length when my eyes are shut. When they are open, I just can’t get the angle to match my older pictures. So anyhoo, I couldn’t get two pictures that match and show the difference – you’re just going to have to take my word for it.
The serum is applied like an eyeliner. The brush is soft and flexible and the serum is clear. I applied it at night, but theoretically you could apply it during the day since it’s clear.
The serum boasts noticeable changes after 4 weeks, but I would say it took about 6 to 8 weeks for me to really see a difference.
Now for the ingredients! (copied from website, sorry for the all caps)
AQUA (WATER), BETAINE, GLYCERIN, SORBITOL, INULIN, BETULA ALBA JUICE**, BETULA ALBA LEAF EXTRACT, XANTHAN GUM, SODIUM LEVULINATE, ALCOHOL**, SODIUM ANISATE, ARGININE, EUPHRASIA OFFICINALIS (EYEBRIGHT) EXTRACT**, LYCIUM BARBARUM (MATRIMONY VINE) FRUIT EXTRACT**, LACTIC ACID, SODIUM LACTATE, CIMICIFUGA RACEMOSA (BLACK COHOSH) ROOT EXTRACT, PCA ETHYL COCOYL ARGINATE, PARFUM (ESSENTIAL OILS)
** certified organically grown
So as you can see, there are quite a lot of ingredients in here! The first couple are thickeners and overall skin/hair conditioners.
Betula Alba is a new ingredient to me. In doing some research, it is another name for the silver birch tree. It is known for being purifying, anti-inflammatory and promotes metabolic activities. It can be found in hair loss products, so it makes sense it would be added to something to promote eyelash growth.
Arginine is an amino acid that is well known for being great for hair. It has vasodilation effects, which help increase circulation to the hair roots, stimulating hair growth.
While I couldn’t find anything for eyebright related to hair, it is well known for its anti-inflammatory and soothing properties for the eyes – a nice inclusion for this lash serum!
Lycium Barbarum/Matrimony Vine is the plant that produces goji berries. Since the ingredient says fruit extract, I’m guessing this is actually goji berry extract. Goji berries seem to be one of the ‘it’ antioxidants right now. I found numerous hair and skin products that contain goji berry extract. While I couldn’t find much research to support how they perform topically, any antioxidant is good for skin and hair, so it’s a nice inclusion.
And lastly, Black Cohosh is a common supplement for menopause, so it was a surprise to see it in the lash serum. Black cohosh helps menopause due to it estrogen-like qualities. Since estrogen helps hair growth, it would make sense that black cohosh could theoretically help with eye lash growth.
Overall, I really like Sante’s Hypnotic Lashes serum. I have noticed a difference in my lashes and it is well formulated to help with hair (or in this case, lash) growth. I also like the fact that it is natural and even partly organic!
