While body scrubs seem like they should be a no-brainer, I have to admit – I’m picky when it comes to body scrubs. Some body scrubs just don’t scrub all that well, and some I have tried are too drying. I like my body scrubs to be both scrubby and moisturizing, which for whatever reason are hard to find! Well – I’m happy to report that Balanced Guru’s Polish Me Dead Sea Salt Scrub is both scrubby and super moisturizing!
I’m very impressed with both the quality of ingredients and the smell of their body oil, and feel the same with the salt scrub. I’ll get into the ingredients later, but the smell is so refreshing! It smells like a sweet citrus, with a hint of an earthy floral. It really fills the air when I use it and even stays on my skin after a shower or bath. I love using this in the morning because it’s so fresh smelling.
The scrub is a blend of sea salt and epsom salt, and also contains calendula flowers. Epsom salt is a favorite of mine for soaking in after a long day, it is great for sore or tired muscles. I’m not sure if using it as a scrub imparts the same benefits, but I’d like to believe it does ;o) I like salt scrubs because the salt dissolves away as you scrub, which lets me know I’m all done scrubbing!
This also contains little dried calendula flowers. They add to the scrubbiness quite a bit actually, but they also make a mess! haha I don’t really mind because I use this in the shower and can just send all the flower pieces down the drain, but I did want to mention. Don’t be surprised to get little flower pieces everywhere.
The scrub is oil-based, which is why it is so moisturizing. This will leave a layer of oil on your legs (or arms or wherever you use it). I used soap to get it off the first few times and then I realized that was a stupid thing to do – it’s a built-in moisturizer! So now I leave it and just pat dry out of the shower and don’t even need to apply lotion afterwards. The only downside of the oil is that it can sometimes make the little flower pieces stuck to my legs and arms. It’s nothing some water from the shower can’t fix, but it is kind of funny how I get little flowers stuck to me. But once I wash those away, my legs are super smooth and soft.

Sorry for the all caps, that’s how Balanced Guru has it on their website and I don’t feel like re-typing.
So after the salt, the oil base is a blend of sesame, soybean, sunflower, and then farther down the list – sweet almond and jojoba. There is more sweet orange fruit peel oil than sweet almond and jojoba actually, so there is a good amount of sweet orange oil. I think that is what helps this be SO fragrant.
I’m actually surprised that this is as moisturizing as it is with sesame, soybean and sunflower oil as the main oils. Those tend to be lighter oils and sesame oil is a dry oil. Even so, this is very moisturizing.
And similar to their body oil, I am very impressed with the quantity of ingredients being organic. Balanced Guru is serious about making their products as organic as they can! Anything that can be organic, is organic (salt can’t be organic).
Overall, Balanced Guru’s Polish Me Dead Sea Salt Scrub is a great body scrub. My legs and arms feel super smooth after using it, and I love that fact that it is so moisturizing I don’t need to use lotion afterwards. And best of all – it’s organic!
