The big 3-0 birthday is in just a few short days! So what’s a girl to do? Well, celebrate of course ;o)
While normally I wear a more natural look, it is fun to change things up a bit when going out and celebrating. Using only Silk Naturals (except for my mascara), Jen and I came up with a fun look for a night on the town.
For my birthday look, we used:
- Original Formula Foundation: view my tutorial for how to mix it yourself
- Sleep in a Jar: an awesome under-eye concealer, I use it in Light
- Bitten Kisser Slicker: sheer cabernet red
- Flirt Blush: a neutral medium-light pink
- Purr Eye Shadow: golden pink shimmer
- Prowl Eye Shadow: a deep, dark, brown with hints of red and purple
- Platinum Eye Shadow: light gray sparkle
- Carbon Eye Shadow: dark gray sparkle
- Medium Brown Brow Cream
Here are swatches of some of the colors:
I adore the Kisser Slicker formula. It is super moisturizing, and slightly glossy. Bitten is a beautiful sheer red, which is great for those who want to venture into red without going too crazy. I’ve owned Bitten for a few years, and it’s a favorite of mine. Bitten, Vapour’s Ravish and ILIA’s Bang Bang are my 3 favorite reds. I’ll have to do swatches of them side by side some day…
Flirt is a medium-lightish pink. Silk Naturals calls it a plum, but I don’t find it very plummy on my skin. It’s pretty pigmented, so I don’t need much. And, it lasts all day – great for those late nights dancing! Well, who am I kidding, I’m in bed by 10 most nights! haha But I do find that it lasts all day.
I haven’t done an official review of Sleep in a Jar or the Brow Cream yet – but I will (sooner or later). In the meantime, I will just say they are both awesome. I was a bit skeptical about a powder under-eye concealer when I first tried Sleep in a Jar a few years ago, I was afraid it would look cakey. But it doesn’t look powdery or cakey at all – it really brightens up my eyes. A word of caution though, it’s pretty light in color. I’m usually the lightest of foundations or concealers, and I found Extra Light to be too light. I’m guessing Extra Light is around a NC10, while Light is a NC15.
As for the Brow Cream, this is a new product for me and like the rest of Silk Natural’s products – I’m impressed. Medium Brown truly is a medium brown. Some browns are way too dark on me, or can be too light or ashy. I even had one look a bit green – bleh. This is a neutral brown that goes well with my fair skin and warm-toned blonde hair. Jen also has pretty fair skin but has platinum hair, and loves Medium Ash. She said it was hard to find a true ashy brown, so was very excited to find one to go with her platinum hair! The texture of it is a waxy cream, so it really stays put all day.
And I have to mention – what really gets me about Silk Naturals is the price. The most expensive product is the brow cream at a whopping $6.50. I have no idea how they keep it so inexpensive, but I’ll take it!
But enough talking, here is the video using all of these!
