I have mentioned Silk Naturals before in an eye shadow review but I really haven’t talked about them enough – they are one of my favorite mineral makeup companies! The quality is great and you can’t beat the price. $4.50 eye shadows? Heck yes! I have around 15 of their eye shadows (I’m not exaggerating ), as well some some lippies and other fun stuff.
One of the cool things about Silk Naturals is that their mineral foundations are sold as Do-It-Yourself. Now, this can be intimidating at first but it’s actually SUPER easy to do. I have bought a few kits over the years, and while the first time was a bit of trial and error to see what my color was, I quickly found a blend that matches me very well. Silk Naturals was kind enough to send me a sample packet so now I can show you how to do it :o)
The Intro Sample pack comes with 5 color pigments, a white base, a little scoop, puff and container with filter.
The pack comes with a paper that gives general guidelines, color descriptions and ingredient info. There is also a guide page on their website with this info. AND, just in case you still have questions, there is a forum where you can post a picture of yourself and they will help you find your color! I did that way back when and it was super helpful.
I personally like the Original Formula the best. I’ve tried the Medium and while it did cover more, I felt it didn’t look quite as natural as Original. The Original provides buildable coverage without looking cakey, so I stick with that. Jen and I also made a few videos using Silk Naturals so stay tuned for those!
But enough talking (or typing), here is a video where I explain it all and show you :o)
Disclosure: Samples were provided to me by Silk Naturals. Opinions and the choice to review are 100% my own! I’m not compensated for anything I write.
