The body oil is described to “warm and invigorate.” Well, I can’t say this warms me (which is preferable since its so flippin’ hot out) but I would definitely describe this as invigorating! The initial smell is a fresh, citrus-y mint. As it fades, it smells a bit more green but still minty. The combination of these scents has an almost eucalpytus-mint smell to it – but without the VICKS-medicinal part. It is very energizing and uplifting, I love using it in the morning and taking a big whiff to wake me up and get me going. I am one of those people that needs all the help I can get in the morning, I’m not what you would describe as a ‘morning person.’
But back to the oil….
The texture of the oil is very light. It is not dry, like sesame oil, but it is pretty light. And what I’m really impressed with – this sinks in VERY well. Like 100%. After 15 minutes or so of applying, my legs don’t feel oily in the slightest. Just moisturized. This is great for daytime use, as I don’t have to worry about work clothes getting greasy or anything, I can apply this – put on some makeup and GO.
On the flip side of it being so light, I’m not sure this would be the best oil for winter. While it is still pretty moisturizing, it may not be quite enough for super dry winter-skin.
The bottle is 3.38 fl oz, so not super big but body oils seem to last for forever so I imagine this would still last months. It doesn’t come with a pump, which is kind of a bummer. The top does narrow a bit so I have found pouring it to be easy and I have yet to make a mess of it.
The bottle is dark glass, which is my favorite for skin/body care to keep the light out. Plus, I always feel fancy with glass bottles ;o)
Ingredients: Prunus amygdalus dulcis (almond) oil, Triticum vulgare (wheat) germ oil, Arnica montana extract, Citrus medica limonum (lemon) oil*, Kunzea ambigua oil*, Juniperus communis (juniper) oil*, Mentha piperita (peppermint) oil**, Salvia sclaria (clary sage) oil*, Tocopherol (vitamin E).
*From natural essential oils: Citral, Citronellol, Limonene, Linalool.
The two oils used are almond oil and wheat germ oil. Almond oil is a light oil that is still very emollient and moisturizing. It is known for its anti-inflammatory properties. I don’t have much experience with wheat germ oil, but it must also be a light oil since this body oil is so light. Wheat oil is very high in natural vitamin E, which is great for skin.
Similar to the Balanced Guru body oil, Vitality also has arnica. Since I just went over arnica I won’t go over it again – but you can read more after the link if interested in arnica’s beneficial properties.
The scent comes from the mixture of essential oils. The lemon gives it nice citrus-freshness. The peppermint is very strong, lasting from the initial smell to even 30 minutes later. The juniper and clary sage give it the ‘green’ smell after it fades a bit.
Overall – Living Nature’s Vitality Body Oil is a great lightweight, energizing body oil. It’s a great morning oil or a pick-me-up moisturizer that sinks in quickly and leaves skin moisturized.
And for a limited time – Living Nature is offering a free lip balm with the body oil – sweeeeeet.
Next on the list is Earth Science’s Multi-Therapy Ceramide Healthy Skin Lotion.
