Finding a great liquid foundation is hard. Finding a great organic liquid foundation is darn-near impossible. I’m happy to announce that Nvey Eco’s Moisture Rich Fluid Foundation is fighting the near-impossible and has been added to my favorites list!
So why is this a favorite? I love the color, the coverage and especially the finish. I have a few tricks to share for application too!
When I first got the tube of 510 (Cool Ivory), the color looked LIGHT. I’m pretty fair myself but this color just looked ghostly pale. Thankfully, the color is darker outside of the tube. I’m around a NC15-20, with a neutral/beigey undertone (closer to 20 now with summer) and 510 is a great match. It has a slight peachy tint, which may be slightly peachier than my natural skin tone. I really like this as it brings some color to my face in a natural way. For those familiar with Jane Iredale’s BB cream, this is slightly darker and peachier than BB3.
Here is a heavy swatch so you can really see the color. It blends well though (see swatch below)
The coverage is about medium. More than a tinted moisturizer but I wouldn’t call this full coverage. Here is a picture that shows some freckles on the back of my hand and how it covers them:
And my last favorite part – the finish. I love how this makes my skin look! It makes it look glowy. Not shimmery or glittery like some twilight vampire, and not dewy in an oily way. Just a natural glow.
Now for a tricky part – the application. When I first applied, I had some troubles. I was used to applying foundations on top of a primer with a sponge. But doing that didn’t look that great, it looked a bit streaky. I contacted Nvey Eco and they suggested I apply with a foundation brush using criss-cross patterns, and that worked much better. I still wasn’t 100% satisfied though (I have high standards!). As I was reading the ingredients, I saw that oils are the biggest ingredients after water. So I thought, this may look better on top of oil! So I applied a facial oil lightly as a moisturizer, skipped the primer, and then used my fingers to apply this over the oil. Turns out I was right (I love when that happens), this applies BEAUTIFULLY over a slightly damp face (from oil). If you are going to use this foundation, then I highly recommend you warm the foundation with your fingers and apply over oil – you can thank me later ;o)
Now for the best part – the ingredients!
Ingredients: Aqua (Water), Carthamus Tinctorius (Organic Safflower) Seed Oil*, Organic Glycerin*, Cetearyl Glucoside, Cetearyl Alcohol, Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Organic Sweet Almond) Oil*, Lecithin, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Cera Alba (Organic Beeswax)*, Tocopherol (Natural Vitamin E), Chondrus Crispus, Benzyl Alcohol (and) Salicylic Acid (and) Sorbic Acid, Xanthan Gum, Organic Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Oil*, Glycerin. May Contain: [+/-] CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide), CI 77492, CI 77491, CI 77499, CI 77019 (Mica).
*Certified Organic Ingredient.
Safflower oil is the main ingredient after water -and is even organic! Safflower is interesting in that it is a light oil, but emollient. It doesn’t feel dry on your skin (like a sesame oil), but isn’t heavy like olive oil. It’s right in between. The next oil is sweet almond oil (also organic), which is another light but emollient oil.
I was a bit worried when I saw the beeswax, as I’ve broken out from products with beeswax before (and I blamed the beeswax), but I haven’t had any breakouts from this. Beeswax is nice because not only does it help mix water and oil, but it provides a nice feel to foundations (and moisturizers).
What is also nice is that it includes Vitamin E and Chamomile, which are great for sensitive skin. The website says it also contains Vitamin C and A, but I don’t see that in the ingredients list so I’m not sure if that needs to updated or if those ingredients are within other ingredients listed.
So all in all, Nvey Eco’s Mosturizing Fluid Foundation is a medium-coverage, liquid foundation that provides a natural glow. It’s organic oils, Vitamin E and Chamomile are also excellent for skin. This is a GREAT all-natural foundation that I highly recommend!
