My first thought when I saw the name Naked Cosmetics was ‘oooooo, saucey!’ Gotta love makeup with some spunk. But while the name might be spunky, it comes from the fact that Naked Cosmetics is a very, very pure form of makeup. They do not contain artificial colors, preservatives, parabens, chemical oils, talc, waxes or other fillers. In fact, the colors are only made from 100% pure mica mineral powder. Mica. That’s it. Can’t get more pure than that – naked or not ;o)
I was sent five colors to try (with my description):
Sierra Nevada #SN02: sheer champagne highlighter with high shimmer, matches my fair skin almost perfectly
Naturally Nude #NN02: Tan/sand, high shimmer
Urban Rustic #UR02: Rust-colored bronze with slight reddish tint and some shimmer
Sierra Nevada #SN04: Taupey color with purple/silver tones and high shimmer
Urban Rustic #UR06: Dark brown with reddish/purple tones with some shimmer
I have to say, I love these all. When I first saw Urban Rustic #02 in the jar, I may have let out a ‘Sweet Jesus!’ because the color looks a little scary (like red). It’s really not though, it’s actually a beautiful rust-bronze that looks good even on my super pale skin!
So let’s go into swatches so you can see for yourself!
From left to right: SN02, NN02, UR02, SN04 and UR06 – also how it is listed from top to bottom above
So as you can see, the SN02 is a little hard to see because it matches my skin so well, just a little more yellow/champagne-y. And see what I mean about the UR02 – it’s not so scary. Just a beautiful rust color!
I am usually not a huge fan of taupes because they can make me look like a have a bruise (really). But I love SN04 – it’s a little taupey but has a beautiful purple shimmer that takes away any mushroom-y-ness of how can taupes can be.
These are also shimmery. Not glittery like a third grade project, but definitely shimmery. SN02, NN02 and SN04 are what I would consider high shimmer. UR02 and UR06 are slightly less so (but definitely still considered shimmery). I took a picture in the sunlight so you can see – how pretty!
I’m not sure why SN04 showed up a little green in the picture. It’s really not.
So I just had way too much fun with these eye shadows. I discovered they are AMAZING applied wet.
See what I mean? These are awesome. I love to apply the UR06 wet as an eyeliner. It’s such a beautiful dark brown and has a reddish/purple tinge to keep it from being a boring brown.
There are a million combinations you could do for eye makeup with these. Ok, maybe not a million but you get the point. Here are two:
This one uses Sierra Neveda 02 in the corners of my eye and along the lash line with Naturally Nude 02 all over. I then used Urban Rustic 06 wet for an eyeliner.
Here I used Naturally Nude 02 all over and then used Urban Rustic 02 along the crease and blended.
Soooo, you now see what I mean when I saw these are pretty. But how do they apply and wear? Awesome, for both. Now I always wear primers for my eye shadows, but these apply really well even over primer. Some eye shadows can stick to primers and apply blotchy. No blotchiness with these. They blend really well too, as you can see above with the two colors blended. These also LAST. All day. At the end of the day I didn’t have any creasing and the eyeliner only very very slightly wore onto my lid area (which with how my eyes are, happens).
So I usually go into the ingredients for my reviews. This one will be easy.
Overall – I’m loving Naked Cosmetics eye shadows – I now want to try all colors! Thank you to Integrity Botanicals for introducing me to these!
