Perfume That Gives Back ~ GIVE Scent

GIVEscent

I love perfume, it just has a way of enticing emotions and memory with the faintest of scent. I used to buy a ton of perfume and have slowly switched my collection to eco-friendly. I was excited when I heard from GIVE because one – I love to try new eco-friendly perfumes, and two – this company gives back.

A portion GIVE’s proceeds benefits Women for Women International. Women for Women International supports female survivors of war and conflict with the tools and resources to move from crisis and poverty to stability and self-sufficiency, thereby promoting viable and civil societies. Women for Women International has helped an estimated 300,000 women through a combination of direct aid, rights education, job skills training and small business development.

That sounds pretty awesome to me.

So that’s all fine and dandy (and it really is!), but it’s great if the product they are selling is actually good – and this IS! The scent is described as a blend of citrus and spicy vanilla, and that is very accurate. The vanilla is strong, but it’s not a super sweet vanilla like you find with some smells that are very cupcake-y. This is a true vanilla and definitely has a spicy musk that gives it some depth. The citrus isn’t nearly as strong as the vanilla, but it is noticeable and adds a freshness to the vanilla that prevents the perfume from being too sweet. After a few hours, the citrusy fades a little, and leaves a spicy vanilla.

So the scent is great – ok, company is great – sure, but does the smell last? Yes! I’m amazed that this scent lasts ALL day. Literally. All day. I have applied this at 6 a.m. and at 5 p.m.  I can still smell it on my arm. Very rarely do I find a perfume that lasts so long, especially one that is all-natural.

Speaking of all-natural, let’s talk about the ingredients! GIVE is free of alcohol, parabens, sulfates, phthalates and formaldehyde. The ingredients are: essential oils, sweet almond oil and parfum oil.

I’m usually hesitant when I see parfum oil because it can contain phthalates but since this is a phthalate-free formula, it’s good to go! What a nice and straight-forward formula!

Overall, this has become one of my favorite perfumes. Not only does it smell heavenly, but the ingredients are safe and proceeds go to a good cause – can you ask for more??

Disclosure: A sample was provided to me by GIVE Scent to try. Opinions and the choice to review are 100% my own! I’m not compensated for anything I write.
