Long-lasting Blush with Ilia Beauty Multi-Sticks

When I picked up the new Ilia lipsticks from Spirit Beauty Lounge, I also picked up some of the Multi-Sticks.

Now, I will start this out with saying I have a love-hate relationship with cream blushes. I love the idea of them, they hate the idea of my skin. I haven’t been able to find one that blends well and lasts all day. They just haven’t looked well on my skin. Or, if they do look good, they don’t look good for long! However, I will say that my idea of cream blushes has changed with Ilia’s multi-sticks!

Because I’m (very) fair, I picked up the multi-sticks in All Of Me, I Put a Spell on You, and Tenderly. I skipped Cheek to Cheek because that seemed a little too dark for me. Spirit Beauty Lounge describes these as:

All Of Me: a warm watermelon
I Put a Spell on You: hot tangerine
Tenderly: washed pink

Overall, these are somewhat accurate. Swatch below:

When I first saw the samples, I will say I was initially disappointed in I Put a Spell on You and Tenderly because the colors looked a little pastel-y. Thankfully, they don’t look that way on skin!

I Put a Spell on you is a coral-y orange color. It looks pretty orange on my arm swatch, but when I wear it on my cheek it seems to pinken up a bit. I wouldn’t quite call it hot tangerine, because that makes me think bright, but it is a tangerine-y type color. On my cheeks, it looks kind of like a faded All of Me actually.

Tenderly is kind of a baby pink, but not quite as pastel-y as normal baby pinks. On my pale skin it looks really nice, without being too bright or clownish. It goes on pretty sheer, so I had to apply two “coats” to really make it stand out.

All of Me is an interesting color, and I think “warm watermelon” accurately describes it. The sample looks kind of like a dark pinkish nude color (not nearly as dark as what it looks like on Ilia’s website though). When I first saw it, I thought it would be way too dark/bright for my cheeks but it’s really not. On skin it looks a lot more coral, and not so neutral/dark pink. I didn’t apply it as heavily as Tenderly, but a light coat gave a really nice color to my cheeks.

All of Me also makes a nice lip color. I usually don’t do light lipsticks (I’m already pale enough!) so I didn’t try I Put a Spell on Your or Tenderly, but I do like All of Me on my lips. It looks like a medium pink with a tinge or coral, and I would say its around the same shade as my natural lip color, just a different color (more warm). It’s a nice lipstick for spring!

I also didn’t try any of these as eyeshadows, although the website says they work as that too. I don’t really wear orange, corals or pinks as an eyeshadow – so I can’t really comment on that.

So the colors are nice – but do they last? Yes! This is where I was super impressed. I have tried cream blushes in the past that literally last an hour. One hour. I was not too pleased. Well, these last about 8 hours! Not quite as long as some of my powder blushes that literally last allll day, but 8 hours for an organic cream blush is impressive in my book.

I wore All of Me to work, so I put it on around 6:15 am. Around noon, it was about 1/2-2/3 still there (a little faded, but still there). Around 4 (so going on the 10 hour mark) when it was time to leave I still had a little color on my cheeks, but it was almost all gone. I’m not sure when it really faded, so I’m going with lasting 8 hours. I will say though I did still have SOME color though, so at least my pale face wasn’t totally washed out! So depending on how you want to define how long it lasts, it could be longer than 8 hours or shorter if you are looking for 100% of the color all the time.

Application of these are very easy. These are definitely more of a cream-type blush like Vapour’s vs. an oily/stain type like Tarte’s. Because I just had samples, I just rubbed the top of the sample with my finger, then applied it to my cheeks. I found that these look best when not rubbed around a lot. I end up rubbing it into my finger more than on my cheek. So I tried to just spread small amounts of color over small areas, without rubbing.

Now for the ingredients! From Ilia’s Website: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil*, Theobroma Cacao (Cocoa) Seed Butter*, Beeswax (Cera Alba)*, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit*, Citrus Aurantium Dulcil (Orange) Fruit Butter, Manihot Esculenta (Tapioca) Starch, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Tocopherol Acetate (Natural Vitamin E). *certified Organic Ingredients.

Similar to the lipsticks and tinted lip conditioners, really great ingredients and mostly organic!

Overall, another win by ILIA!
