When it comes to nail polishes, I’ve always stuck to reds, pinks, or purples. I’m boring. Lately, I see that neutrals are in and I look longingly at pretty neutral nails and wish I could pull it off. Well – (drum roll please) I have! I finally caved in and bought Butter London’s All Hail the Queen. My first neutral polish purchase and I am thrilled.
Butter London describes the color as: Rock it like royalty in this opaque, holographic beige.
Well, that’s kinda close to my experience. To be a little more specific, I would describe the color as a sheer lavender-gray-beigey-brown with mostly silver fine glitter. There are a couple of unique things about this color.
One is that the purply-ness or beigey-ness of the color changes depending on the lighting. Sometimes I look down and really see the purple tones, other times I look down and it looks much more taupey or brown. It’s such a pretty color, I keep finding myself just looking down at my fingernails. I feel so grown up with these nails.
The color is also pretty sheer. Even with two coats I can see the whites of my nails shine through a teensy bit. Three coats would probably make this fully opaque though.
I also say “mostly” silver glitter because while at first glance it appears to be silver, when the light hits your nails a certain way, it can look blue or pink – very pretty. It’s also very fine glitter, it just gives the color another dimension without being in your face about it. From a distance, you can’t even tell that there is glitter.
This is the 2nd Butter London I have tried (after the much fun Fairy Lights) and both times the polish has dried incredibly fast. I’m not sure if this is a Butter London thing or if it’s just coincidental, but this may be the fastest drying polish I’ve used that doesn’t claim to be fast drying. It makes for a very nice smooth nail because I’m usually prone to knicking my nails because I’m too impatient to let them fully dry. Not with this polish though! I can be impatient and start doing stuff and not have to worry about my nails. Yay!
So I’ve ventured into new territory, and I like it. Perhaps this will give me the confidence to try other zany colors – watch out!
