Similar to red and pink lipsticks, I’m a sucker for red and pink nail polishes. After buying a polish, I bring it back to my collection and realize, this looks just like my other 5 polishes of the same color…Of course, if it’s one shade off then you HAVE to keep it. After all, that one shade makes it different and therefore unique, right? That’s what I tell myself anyway. I can honestly say though, Fairy Lights IS different. Not that one-shade-off different, but totally unique and in an arena all its own. And I love it.
On NuboNau’s website (where I bought it), Fairy Lights was described as “Be a beacon to bad boys and the life of the party in dazzling limited edition “liquid metal” rose pink”. After wearing it, I will have to agree with this description. I would describe the color as a medium pink to medium purple, depending on the lighting, with an opaque metallic/chrome finish. In the sunlight, the nail polish really shows its complexity. Sometimes it shows a silver sheen and other times it almost has a tan tinge. Very cool.
Here is a picture of my nails both with and without flash so you can see how the polish changes in lighting.
Another great thing about this nail polish is that it dries fast. Really fast. When painting my nails, I had to be super quick with painting each nail otherwise parts would dry while I was dunking for more polish and it would end up streaky or drag the polish. I quickly realized the best way for a streak-free metallic finish is to get one drop that will cover your entire nail, then quickly spread it. If you mess up one nail, don’t worry, this polish is so opaque a second coat can fix a quirky first coat and you would never even know (as I thankfully found out).
This is my first Butter London nail polish and they definitely have me hooked. They are “3 Free” meaning no Formaldehyde, Toluene or DBP. These 3 chemicals were frequently found (and sometimes still are) in nail polishes and are linked to cancer and other nasty stuff. Most companies have now jumped on the 3 Free bandwagon, thankfully.
So can nails be fun? Absolutely. This is a very cool finish and color, unlike anything else I’ve ever owned. It makes me want to go out and show them off on the dance floor (corny, but true).
